Greek-English Responses

The Greek Orthodox Church, unlike many Orthodox bodies that have been in the United States for over a century, has clung to the prominent use of the Greek language in liturgy and worship. This is a barrier to potential inquirers as well as most young Americans of Greek descent who do not know the language.

The responses below are found (with some minor variances in English translation) in Greek Orthodox Divine Liturgy books. Greek words have been transliterated so that English speaking worshippers can actively participate in the chanting of responses other parts of the Liturgy.

There are two formats:: the first is a leaflet which can be printed and made available for use. The second format is designed to be printed, cut and pasted over the 'Greek side' of the Divine Liturgy book on the facing page of the English text for easier use. Simply print and use.
