Types of Orthodox Liturgical Prayer

There are a variety of Orthodox liturgical prayer formats to use in Prayer Evangelism and there is no need to choose just one type. A few guidelines are useful:
1. Always include an intercessory prayer section that mentions the names of those who are being prayed for each week.
2. Avoid multiple prayer formats if it makes the prayer service last an hour or more
3. The service should be mostly in English except for a few responses (remember this is designed to encourage visitors)
4. Do not have a service of prayer exclusively for the departed souls at this 'weekly' prayer time

These types of prayers contain specific sections for the inclusion of names to be prayed for....
Paraklesis: an intercession service usually directed to the Theotokos used in Greek traditional parishes
Moleben: an interecession service that can be general or specific used in Slavic tradition parishes
...also...
Akathist: can be offered for specific intentions; prayer Litany at the end should be included for names to be mentioned

Special Note: Prayers for the Departed Souls
While this type of prayer should not be the main focus of the weekly Prayer Evangelism service (since visitors are usually uninformed about the need to prayer for the departed), it is possible to include one of these shorter services at the end of the main prayer service without making it too long once a month. It is suggested that only the names of the departed from those present at the service be named rather than the extensive list of the entire congregation.
Trisagion Service: a Memorial (Greek) or Panikhida(Slavic) service that is relatively brief and include mention of names of the departed
