Christ Reveals that He is God
Aside from mostly forgotten pagan religions, Jesus Christ's claim to be God is unique. Most other religious founders (i.e. Mohammed, Buddha) claimed to be teachers or at the most prophets. Further, Christ's stated purpose that He
came not to be served but to serve [Matthew 20:28] has no parallel.
The New Testament, gathered from the early writings of His closest followers, reveal that Jesus Christ could legitimately lay claim to numerous prophecies written by different Old Testament authors over hundreds of years that foretold glimpses of His earthly life. Also documented are a few of the
countless miracles He worked in the physical world to show that
He had authority in the spiritual world. After His Ascension, the Holy Spirit conferred this supernatural ability on His disciples and others which has continued even to the present day in documented miraculous healings and other events that cannot
be explained by rational modern science.
The transformation of a tiny group of cowering, uneducated men after Pentecost into articulate, fearless missionaries of Christ's message who spread His teachings throughout the known Western world
with thousands of converts cannot be explained by human reason.
I and [my] Father are one.
Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God...
Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
John 10:30-33; 36-37
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
And declared [to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
Romans 1:1-4
