What is Orthodoxy?
This section is designed as a concise introduction to Orthodox Christianity from the viewpoint of a convert. Hopefully as I explain why 'I' (the webmaster) am Orthodox it will help
'you' to consider Orthodoxy as well. There are many indepth resources online for understanding the Orthodox Church and
links are provided for in each section to learn more.
Much of the modern world views all religions as equally good ways to worship God
while others view all
Christian denominations as equal 'branches' of the Early Church (i.e indifferentism). This is not true of Christianity [Acts 4:12] nor of Orthodoxy [Jude 3; Galatians 1:9].
I have chosen the Byzantine eagle as the image to press to return to this page because it symbolizes the
harmonius unity between the Orthodox Church and the Byzantine state for over 1000 years. For the individual Orthodox believers, it illustrates the need for unity and harmony between each person's the spiritual and physical reality.
Before exploring Orthodoxy's characteristics, a few basics need to be examined.
